Anticipation is rough, and opening day of sweet corn season is getting close … so close … so very close that you can probably taste it! Our unusually excessive wet and cool weather has made our sweet corn crop CREEP to its maturity.
Dad and all of the MDSC gang do everything humanly possible to provide you with sweet corn before the Fourth of July. And we are excited to have made this goal and even more excited to announce Opening Day 2019!
You will find us Wednesday, July 3 at our Wednesday farmers markets with limited supplies. Please look for us at the Original Downtown Farmers Market on Wednesday morning and The Plainfield Farmers Market on Wednesday afternoon. Note that our supply is limited so please arrive early if your need is great and know that there is no crying in sweet corn. Dad doesn’t tolerate that!
Please keep in mind that our Thursday market at Fort Ben will be closed this week due to the holiday. Normally, our Fort Ben Market operates every Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Fort Ben Civic Plaza 9230 Memorial Park Drive (right behind Jackamo’s Pizza on 56th street). It’s a small yet mighty new market for us, so please put us in your Thursday afternoon lineup … just not this week.
Should supply allow, we plan to set up shop at the corner of 82nd and Hague at the church on the Fourth of July. We will keep you posted, as we are working with a moving target! Next Saturday, July 6, you will find us at all of our farmers market locations throughout the rest of the season.
Please know that we are doing our very best to get you as much sweet corn as possible as soon as possible because everyone knows that summertime doesn’t officially begin until you have enjoyed a couple ears of sweet corn from MDSC!
See you soon!
